Visiting Modiin: start here
Modiin sits halfway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, with two railway stations and Route 443 to both. The city is built around ancient sites linked to the Maccabees, and the Latrun area, Ben Shemen Forest and Neot Kedumim are all within about 10 km.

Arrive by train
Modiin Center station is underground next to Azrieli Mall and the bus terminal; Paatei Modiin is on the western edge. Both stations have direct trains to Jerusalem and towards Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv and Haifa.

Start at the Hasmonean Heritage Museum
The city museum on Sderot Dam HaMaccabim tells Modiin's story from the Hasmoneans to the modern city. Closed Sundays; open Friday and Saturday 10:30-13:30.

Climb Titura Hill
The city's highest point has a Crusader fort, an archaeological garden and a 360-degree view; the 2 km loop is wheelchair accessible.

Walk Anava Park and the Anava trail
The central park has a lake, an adventure playground and an amphitheatre; a 4.5 km trail follows the stream west to Paatei Modiin. The park is closed at night.

Day trips nearby
Mini Israel, Yad La-Shiryon and Emmaus are at Latrun, about 7 km south; Neot Kedumim and the Tombs of the Maccabees are on Route 443 to the north-west.

Where to sleep
The Jacob Modi'in Hotel by Azrieli Mall (opened 2025) is the city's only hotel; the Neve Shalom hotel near Latrun is the closest country option.

Plan around Shabbat
Regular buses stop on Shabbat, but the free Na'im BaSofash line 712 runs to Tel Aviv on Friday evening and Saturday. Mini Israel, Neot Kedumim and Yad La-Shiryon are closed on Saturday.

Good to know
Anava Park closes at 22:00 (21:00 on Friday). Spring (February-March) is the best time for the hill walks and wildflowers.
